Update

Took the babies today for their RSV shot and for Rachael to be checked over from her hospital visit. Rachael is recovering well and the doctor said that her lungs sounded great. We only have to give her breathing treatments 2 times a day now until she stops coughing. She really isnt coughing that much now anyway thank goodness. She weighs 7 pounds 13 ounces now and Lucas weighs 11 pounds 11 ounces. I thought he was around 10 pounds, i was way off. I asked her how much formula we can give to him in a day and she said to give him whatever he wants, said he will lose the weight when he gets crawling and moving around. He is taking 8 ounce bottles now and sometimes he wants to eat every 2 hours. Little piggie he is. She said that they both look great. Makes me feel good! Hopefully we will not have to go back to the doctors until the end of next month when they have their 4 month check up and more shots.

Another Round

of RSV in our house. This time Rachael had it. When she woke up at 330am last Friday morning she was really wheezing and breathing hard so i took her right to the ER here by our house. They did the RSV test on her and it came back negative and said she needed to goto the hospital she was born in for observation. They would not let me drive her there so she had to go by ambulance. I had the jeep with the car seat bases in it so I had to come home and get Dave and Lucas before heading up to the hospital. I called my Dad and he met her there when she got there. By time we got there they had already taken another sample to test for RSV and sure enough she tested positive there. Some days for her were better then others. Saturday she did get worse and she had a blue tint around her lips so they started oxygen right away. Some days she was on a little bit and other days she was on more. I have to take her to the doctors on Monday for a check up and they also have to get their 2nd shot of RSV, they have one more to go. Not that it really helped this year but hopefully it will help next year so we do not have to go through this again. I will update on Monday how much they weigh. Lucas has to be over 10 pounds he is getting hefty. He always wants to eat.

They were 3 months old on Wednesday.

Update

I have not updated in awhile so here goes.

Last Sunday we had Lucas at the doctors because he was sneezing and coughing and the doctor said he had a cold. We just wanted to make sure it wasnt anything else. Monday i took them to get their RSV shots. Tuesday Lucas was coughing alot more, turning bright red and crying after he got done coughing, wheezing and having a hard time breathing so we took him to the doctors around 4ish and they said he had bronchitis. So they gave us a breathing treatment machine to give him treatments. We went home and by 7 he was having an even harder time breathing and you could really see his ribs now. So we took him to the ER and they did a chest x-ray and did the RSV test on him and the chest xray showed that he had fluid in his lungs and the RSV test came back positive. They said he looked pretty good considering he had RSV and sent him home. It really surprised me that they sent him home because it is so contagious for little babies especially preemies. So we had an appt Wed morning for a follow up and they admitted him to the hospital. He was on oxygen, had iv's, received breathing treatments every 2 hours and hooked back up to the heart monitors. He came home on Friday. We had to continue the treatments every 4 hours.

I took Lucas to the doctors on Monday for a checkup from his hospital stay and she said that his lungs sound alot better. He is not coughing as much thank goodness. We still have to do the breathing treatments but only 2-3 times a day now instead of every 4 hours like we were doing. He has been spitting up alot lately and she said that is due to him bringing up all the crap from his lungs and said it will continue for a little while yet She said that she will continue with his RSV shots only because she wants them to have them next year as well and if he does not receive the rest she is afraid the insurance company will deny him next year. He weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces on Monday. He is getting hefty.

Rachael is doing good and so far has not gotten the RSV thank goodness. I am surprised because Dave and I have been sick too with colds. Lucas shared with us. She has graduated to newborn diapers now and is wearing newborn clothes but they are big on her. Some of her preemie pants still fit her but the onsies do not. She slept all night last night, hopefully this will continue and maybe just maybe it wear off on Lucas..lol.. Probably not though because he likes his food every 4 hours!
