Lucas' First Haircut

Well we had to break down and get his hair cut, he really needed it.. He was such a good boy, did get mad a few times at the barber but that was to be expected. It mainly occurred when the barber was cutting his bangs and sides where he could see a little bit of what was going on. But here are a few pics from his big hair cut. He looks all grown up now.... Sniff Sniff...

Quick Update

Two weeks from today they will be a year old, cant believe it. I have an out of town doctors appointment that day so its going to kill the day but we will make the best of it. Their birthday party is on Sat, the 22nd.

Lucas has now mastered the crawling on all 4's. He smiles so big after he does it, so cute.

Rachael sat up from laying on the floor the other day. Its the first time she has sat up by herself without being assisted. So proud of her. They sure have made big progress in the past few months.

Next week is Rachael's GI appointment. I cant wait to go and see what can be done to hopefully stop her spitting up.

First Trip with the Twins......

We made our trip to Pittsburgh for the wedding. I figured that they would sleep most of the way down there because they always fall asleep in the car but they were wide awake looking around and laughing. They were off schedule with their naps but they did great. They didnt get cranky or anything. They didnt even let us know when they were hungry because there was so much going on so we had to make sure we watched the clock. The only time Lucas cried the whole time we were there is after they were pronounced man and wife when everyone starting clapping. They really didnt sleep well in the pac n plays at the hotel but they made up for it when we got home. They slept till after 9 Sunday morning. They were tired little people.

We have had Rachael to the doctors again for her spitting up and being constipated. The doctor said her spitting up could be due to being constipated so she had us give her miralax in her bottles and her constipation was gone and so was the spitting up so she wanted us to go back to the zantac and she began spitting up again. So another call to the doctors office and they said to give her one teaspoon a day of miralax and see how she did with this. Well she is still spitting up so she had referred her to a GI doctor. We go there on the 13th of November.

Just busy planning their big 1st birthday party. Cannot believe that they are almost 1 already, trying to figure out where the time has gone.

They both have 2 teeth now. Rachael started kinda crawling last night. She will pull herself across the floor dragging her legs. She wanted the remote so she went and got it. The other day Lucas tried pulling himself on the back of Rachael's chair. I really think he is going to walk before he crawls. We will see.........

Here are a few pictures from our trip.... Enjoy...

9 month checkup at the doctors

We made it through another set of shots. They each had two and they also had their finger pricked to check for lead and hemoglobin. Both came back fine. Lucas is getting a second tooth in now.

Lucas now weighs 21 pounds 2 ounces and Rachael weighs 13 pounds 12 ounces. She is so teeny!! The doctor said that they both looked great and that we need to increase their solid foods... By adding the cereal to Rachael in the morning it has really cut down on her spitting up i have noticed, thank goodness. There have been a few days recently that she spits up her whole bottle. She isnt going to get any bigger by doing this all the time. They will have their one year checkup early December.

We will be taking our first road trip with them next week to Pittsburgh. We are going down for their cousins wedding. Will post how we make out and some pics of their first trip!!!

9 Months Old

Where has the time gone? The babies were 9 months old on the 20th of August. These months sure have gone by fast. They both are doing very well. They have little colds right now but thankfully no hospital visits.

Lucas is going to be starting occupational therapy soon because he doesnt like to use his arms alot (for example, doesnt like to hold his bottle and he doesnt like to reach up for things when laying on his back). He will do it for us but not when the people from Early Intervention come to evaluate. I think he is just being lazy but it will be good for them to come in and work with him to improve his skills. he is really trying to crawl but is having a hard time with his arms, he likes to put his arms under him so he is pretty much laying on them when getting on his knees, looks like a fish out of water or something LOL... He is getting there though. He is doing very well at sitting up and he went to fall backwards the other day during therapy and he caught himself...

Rachael is still going to the chiropractor for her neck. We were there yesterday and she was really mad at the doctor. As soon as I picked her up, she stopped crying so i knew nothing was wrong with her just really mad. She is working on sitting up. She rolls all over the floor now. She has made a lot of improvement in her motor skills in the past month. She holds her own bottle, such a big girl she is. Little girl with a big attitude, Dave says she gets that from her mother...LOL....

Last month i got a job at a grocery store. It is very hard leaving the babies but it does get me out of the house for awhile and a little extra money for us.

Lucas and Rachael have their 9 month checkup on Sept 12th, they will be almost 10 months old by then but because of school starting and all the kids needing to see the doctor, they got pushed back a bit but they said it would be fine.

We are going to take our first road trip with the duo the end of September. We are going to goto Pittsburgh for a wedding. Will post pictures from that trip after we get back.

Sickness update

Well Lucas did end up being admitted to the hospital last Sunday. He came home Monday night. He was a totally different little guy from when we took him there then when we brought him home thank goodness. He is doing good. Took him for his follow up appointment on Thursday and Dr. Leonard said he sounded good. She also said that when he gets sick with a cold for the rest of the year he probably will wheeze due to having the RSV. He weighed 19 pounds 11 ounces at the doctors on Thursday.

Monday morning as i was getting things ready for Rachael to goto Grandma's house while i was up seeing Lucas, i came back in and she was covered in vomit. She had gotten sick earlier in the morning too after she ate and i had given her steroids. So i got her all cleaned up, new clothes on and she did it again on the changing table. So i took those clothes off and before i got them completely off, she got sick again. So i called the doctor and wanted me to take her to the hospital to have blood drawn and she would see her at 130. So thats what we did. Her blood tests came back good and didnt show signs of her being dehydrated thank goodness. But when she looked in her ears it showed she had double ear infections. So she is on medicine for that. She is doing better. Still coughing from her upper respiratory infection but doing alot better. She weighed 12 pounds 14 ounces at WIC on Thursday. Still our little peanut..

They start physical therapy twice this week Monday and Wednesday. Their therapist will be leaving us shortly. She is going to take over some little kids that is closer to her house and the other PT will take over the Waverly kids because she lives here. Makes sense because of the gas prices but we will miss her.... She is going to do one session a week with them while they are making the transition over to the new therapist....

Update

Well their is more sickness in our house. Thursday night i took Lucas to the hospital because he just was not acting himself. He was still coughing/wheezing and then when i put him on the floor he just laid there(he usually rolls right over as soon as i put him down) so i knew something wasnt right with my little guy... They did an xray, gave him some meds by mouth and a breathing treatment and they found that he has pneumonia in his right lung. So he is back on steroids and an antibiotic-tomorrow is his last day of them. Last night we took Rachael to the hospital because she was starting down with it too. But she just has a respiratory infection for now (doctors words). Lucas has a follow up appointment on Tuesday. I am hoping they can look at Rachael too that day. Never a dull moment in our house... We are working on getting our babies back to being healthy again...

7 Months

I cant believe that they are 7 months old today.. They sure are growing up quick on us.

We had Lucas at the doctors twice this week. He is now on steroids and the neubulizer. He will be finishes with the steroids tomorrow. He is still really coughing and wheezing so I am not sure if this medicine is actually working for him. He has learned to roll over from his back to tummy now and sure does love being on his tummy. He will roll to his tummy in his crib so we have to go in and roll him over so his face isnt in the mattress. He also loves to put the blanket over his head so we have to remove the blanket quite often so he can breathe. This morning while i was eating my yogurt i put a little bit on my finger and gave to him to see what his reaction would be and he licked his lips so i went to give him a little more and he opened up his mouth, i guess he likes vanilla yogurt.

Rachael is doing good, she was a little sick over the weekend but is doing better. I am wondering if she is starting to come down with the crap that Lucas has. I hope not but it would not surprise me any. She is really liking her apple juice. I am going to try mixing her cereal with the apple juice so maybe we can get some cereal down her that way. I will post to let you know how that goes. I took her to the chiropractor again yesterday and he notices a big difference in the way she holds her head now. She will see him again next week and then he wants to try to do every 2 weeks instead of every week to see how she does..

6 month checkup

Today was their 6 month check up... Lucas weighs in at 18 pounds 15 ounces, Rachael weighed in at 12 pounds 9 ounces. Lucas is 26 3/4 inches long and Rachael is 24 1/4 inches long. They both had 3 shots today and the rotovirus drink. Today was the last time they will get the drink. Lucas was gagging on it and Rachael was smiling at the nurse while she was giving it to her. She was also trying to store it inside her mouth but the nurse noticed and then she finally swallowed it.

The only new thing with Lucas is that we have to start giving him another solid food per day. I questioned whether it was okay for him to be so big and she said he is right where he is suppose to be for his height.

As for Rachael, we have to change formula to one that has rice cereal in it so its thicker to try to help with her acid reflux and also have to increase her Zantac again. She does have a hemorrhoid so we have to give her an ounce of juice and water once a day to try to make her poop a little softer to get rid of it. As for as her eating cereal fruits/veggies she said to try about every 10-14 days to see if she is ready to start those yet. We have to take her to a different physical therapist for a second opinion on her neck/spine and then we will go from there what to do. The doctor will call me a few days after we go see the other therapist. When I had her at the chiropractor yesterday he said that she was holding her head a lot better. So we will continue to go see him.

They do not have to go back for another checkup until August when they will be 9 months old. Good grief they are growing quick.

Where has the time gone????

Rachael and Lucas are 6 months old today. Still cant believe it. Rachael has found her voice and babbles all the time now. The other night they were laying side by side and they looked at each and smiled and then started talking back and forth to one other, sooo cute. Lucas is really enjoying his cereal and fruits/veggies. He does not care for carrots but he will eat them after he scowls at me. Rachael still does not want anything to do with cereal or fruits/veggies. I have been taking her to the chiropractor for her neck/spine. Her head really tilts to the left. The chiropractor said it is most likely caused by the way she was in the womb. He wants to get an xray to see what the extent of the curve in her spine is. He has been adjusting her neck when we go. The first time she really cried, the second time she just looked around. So proud of her. They have their 6 month check up on the 30th of May so I will update their weights and lengths then.

On June 1st we will be doing our live broadcast for the childrens miracle network.

Sleepy Babies

Update

I can not believe that the babies will be 6 months old in a few weeks. It sure is going by quick. Lucas has a cold or something right now. He is very miserable. He is drooling alot too along with his stuffy nose. He is also working on getting his first tooth. Rachael is drooling up a storm as well. She really likes sucking her thumb now. I had them at the doctors on Thursday and Rachael now weighs 11 pounds 6 ounces and Lucas weighs 16 pounds 2 ounces. They have their 6 month check up and more shots on May 30th.

Quick Update

Yesterday we had our taping done for the Childrens Miracle Network. The babies were great during this. They did not cry or make a sound. We were all surprised that they didnt.

Afterwards we went out to lunch and then we went and got Miss Rachael's ears pierced. She cried but was over it very quick. Daddy even cried because he does not want his princess to hurt. But she looks even more beautiful now. I will post pictures of her new look in a little bit.

New Things

The past 3 nights Lucas has been sleeping through the night and we have to wake him up in the morning for his breakfast. He has started cereal Wednesday night and once he got the hang of it he loves it. I have been mixing some fruit in it for him.

Rachael has been sleeping through the night for awhile now. Last night I gave her a taste of some applesauce and she went right after it so Daddy fed her some more. She has started lifting her legs up now when we goto change her diaper. Such a big helper she is. She is not liking her Zantac so next time for sure we will be getting some flavoring put in it for her.

Our First Easter Pictures

4 Month checkup

Their checkup went good until it was shot time. They both had 5 shots and the rotovirus drink. Rachael weighed in at 9 pounds 8 ounces, 21 3/4 inches long and Lucas weighed in at 13 pounds 13 ounces and is 24 inches long. The doctor said they both looked great. Rachael was put on Zantac to see if that will help with her reflux. I gave it to her for the first time last night and she did not like it one bit. I think next time i will have them put some of the flavoring in it. They get to start rice cereal now and in 2 weeks they get to start fruit and veggies. I think i will start first with fruit!

Happy Birthday

Rachael and Lucas are 4 months old today. Their corrected age is only 8 weeks. Yesterday during their physical therapy they both rolled from their tummy to their back. Amy put Lucas on his tummy and was moving back to get out his way and he lifted his leg and rolled over. She decided she would see if Rachael would do the same and sure enough after a few minutes she did as well. They both are smiling and cooing. I love it. Lucas gets going so much that is sounds like he is giggling. They have their 4 month checkup and more shots on Monday so i will update after that on their weights. I am guessing Lucas has to be around 14 pounds or so. We will see on Monday.
