Our Family is all Home

Yesterday morning we got a call from the NICU around 930 saying that Lucas could come home. We were in total shock but happy. Last night was a bit challenging though because Lucas is not feeling well from his little surgery he had yesterday morning before he came home. He wants to be held all the time, poor little guy but soon he will forget all about it.

We had issues with Rachael the night before, we couldnt keep her awake for her eat and she was not pooping. She had a doctors appt yesterday anyway. The doctor said we have to get mean with her to get her to eat. By this she means we have to strip her down to her diaper and flick the bottom of her foot, rub her head, give her a sponge bath, etc whatever it takes to get her mad so she will wake up. So far she is doing good. I gave her a suppository last night and it did work really quick. So she is back on track with that aspect of her little self. She weighed 4 pounds at her visit, if she loses weight by Monday then she will have to go back into the hospital so we are hoping she gains some or stays the same.

Update

Miss Rachael is doing good at home and we are getting some sleep at night. She is a good sleeper for now, hoping it stays this way but we will see. All 3 of us went to see Lucas last night. Well Rachael had to stay in the parents room but she went with us. I fed him his bottle and cuddled with him for a bit and then Dave went to cuddle with him for a bit and rocked him to sleep.

I called the NICU to check on him this morning like I always do and he weighed 5 pounds 13.6 ounces and he had a few brief apnea episodes during the night. I guess our chat again last night did not do anything. Nurse Cindy said that she is going to have alot of long chats with him as well so maybe he will listen to her. He is being stubborn already.

Rachael's Homecoming Day

Rachael was discharged from the NICU today. She was there 28 days. She weighs 3 pounds 15 ounces now. We have to take her for her first pediatrician visit on Friday. She had her eyes checked again today and everything still looks good.

If Lucas does not have anymore apnea episodes he will be home this weekend probably. He weighed 5 pounds 11 ounces this morning. He is getting really big.

Both babies had there hearing test done yesterday and both passed with no problems.

Christmas Pictures in the NICU

Weekend Update

Rachael weighs 3 pounds 12 ounces now and Lucas weighs 5 pounds 7 ounces. We took a car seat up the hospital yesterday to make sure it passes their test and it did. They put Rachael in it to see if she could keep her oxygen level up and not have any apnea episodes for an hour and she passed. The word is right now that Miss Rachael might be coming home on Tuesday. Lucas might come home the end of the week but he has to go 5 days without having any apnea episodes and so far he has not gone one day without one but when we left yesterday he did not have any yet so we are hoping he kept up the good work.

We also took their Christmas outfits up yesterday for pictures. I will post them when I get them downloaded. We took several but only a few came out good because they like to move their arms alot and they seem to do it at the same time. Must be a twin thing.

We are in the process now of getting the house ready for their homecoming. It still is hard to believe that they will be 4 weeks old on Tuesday already, it really has gone by fast. So hopefully they both might be home for Christmas!!! I keep hearing the song I will be home for Christmas on the radio and tell them i hope they will be.

These two little ones are the best Christmas present ever!!!

Miss Rachael's Pictures

Lucas's First Bath Pictures

Update

It has been awhile since I have updated the blog so here goes. Lucas now weighs 5 pounds 4.4 ounces and Rachael weighs 3 pounds 8 ounces, both are gaining good. Lucas is doing very well in his big boy crib. Rachael should be going in a big girl crib tonight because she weighs enough now. Her belly button still has not fallen off.

We were able to give Lucas his first bath with us on Saturday. He just laid there and enjoyed it. We were a little nervous about it but he wasnt or maybe he was because he had his hands crossed as if he was praying, lol..

Earlier in the week Nurse Randi said word has it that Lucas might come home in a week or 2 but he has to stop having his apnea episodes first. Yesterday when i was there, he had 4 but he did not have any overnight.

Rachael had her eyes examined yesterday to see if everything is developing the way it should be because she was so small when she was born and everything is so thats a good thing. She will be examined before she is discharged to make sure things still look good.

They both are having lotrimin put on their little butts for diaper rash and they are both getting better. Lucas was on eye drops for 5 days for a little infection. They said his tear ducts were blocked and had a little infection. He had a lot of drainage but they look better now.

Lucas is eating every 3-4 hours now and getting 60 cc's each time. Rachael is still eating every 3 hours and she is getting 30 cc's now.

Thursday Update

Rachael weighed in at 3 pounds 4 ounces today, had a brief bradycardia overnight, she took 5 cc's through the bottle but the rest of her feedings were put through her feeding tube. She is still at 28 cc's every 3 hours and is tolerating all of them. I asked Nurse Cindy if her belly button had fallen off yet and she did not look but the next time she changes her diaper she is going to check then she will be able to have regular baths too.

Lucas weighed in at 4 pounds 14.4 ounces today, had a brief bradycardia overnight, he is at 60 cc's every 4 hours now (he just started the every 4 hour feedings yesterday) and he had his first bath today. Nurse Cindy said he is a clean little boy now.

Trying to figure out who our Secret Angels Are

Yesterday we received a card from Secret Angels with a $100 gas card in it. We want to say thank you very much and very thoughtful. It will come in handy as we drive 25 miles each way to see our precious miracles!!!!

Wednesday's Update

I have not been up to see them yet as I am having sinus issues. I really think its because it is so dry in the NICU but have called a few times already this morning to check on them and they are both doing great still. I called the OB to see if i could take Sudafed because I am nursing to make sure it is safe to take and it is. Hoping pretty soon I get some relief.

Lucas weighed in at 4 pounds 13 ounces today, gained a little bit overnight, took 1/2 of 2 bottles during the night and the rest was given to him through his feeding tube, 2 brief bradycardia's during the night. He is still in the big boy crib all cuddled up in his blankets and his hat. Nurse Cindy said that his temperature is down a little bit but they are giving him the benefit of the doubt because the pod that they are in is chilly.

Rachael weighed in at 3 pounds 2.4 ounces today, no apnea or bradycardia's during the night, they didnt try her on bottles during the night because they wanted to let her rest so she just got her meals through her feeding tube.

Tuesday's Update - 2 Weeks old Today!!!

Rachael weighed in at 3 pounds 1.8 ounces, still tolerating her feedings good, took a few feedings partly by bottle but they really do not want to tire her out to much because she is so tiny yet but she is growing good.

Lucas weighed in at 4 pounds 12.8 ounces, still tolerating his feedings good as well, old isolette is gone and now he is in big boy crib, took some more bottles.

Mondays update Part 2

Lucas was in a crib when we went to see him last night. They said if he continued to hold his temperature through Nurse Kathy's shift then that would be his new bed. I fed him for the first time with a bottle and Dave changed Rachael's diaper for the first time and also fed her some of her bottle. She was tired so they put the rest in a syringe and went through her feeding tube. Lucas took 32 cc's through his bottle and then took the rest through his feeding tube. He was falling asleep and said that he is tired from trying to keep his temperature up. But both are doing great with the bottle feedings. They gestational age is 33 weeks today!

Mondays update

We have not been to seen our precious babies yet today but I talked to Nurse Sherry and said that they both had a brief bradycardia during the night but did not have any while she was there today. This is common because of their gestational age but they do not have many. They said in a few weeks they will lower the number they have it set at and they will have less then.

Lucas weighed in at 4 pounds 10 1/2 ounces today and Rachael made it to 3 pounds today. She was going to try Lucas in a crib today to see how he did holding his temperature.

Sundays update

Lucas weighed in at 4 pounds 9.8 ounces and Rachael weighed in at 2 pounds 15.8 ounces-so close to 3 pounds, probably today. We talked with the doctor and said that both are great babies and doing great for their age. They just have to learn how to breath, eat and swallow all at once but they are on their way. Rachael's feeding was upped to 28 cc's and Lucas to 40 cc's yesterday. When they move one up they always do the other according to Nurse Cindy. Lucas's belly button fell off yesterday so Rachael's probably wont be to much longer before it falls off. We went and bought their christmas outfits Sat night, hopefully they will be home, if not, we will just take them to the hospital to get their pictures with their outfits on.

As for me, i went to the doctors on Thurs to get my incision looked at and it looks great, no infection, etc thank goodness. They gave me some pills to see if it would help me make some more milk for the munchkins. I think it may have helped a little bit. I will keep taking them. I go back to the doctors on the 28th for my follow up visit from the pregnancy. As of today, i have lost 21 pounds so far, i gained a total of 44 pounds in the pregnancy so i am getting there.

Saturday, December 1, 2007

Update from Saturday

Lucas now weighs 4 pounds 7.8 ounces and Rachael weighs 2 pounds 15 ounces. Maybe tomorrow she will hit the 3 pound mark. Lucas took 2 1/2 bottles today and tolerated it well. Rachael took 1 bottle and tolerated it well. They were going to try to give Rachael another bottle but didnt because they dont want to tire her out to much so they will give her more tomorrow.

Twins Update

Lucas weighed 4 pounds 6.2 ounces yesterday so he is past his birth weight. Rachael weighed 2 pounds 14 ounces so she is back to her birthweight now. Both are doing great. They had ultrasounds done on their heads on Thursday to check for bleeding and neither one had any, thank goodness. They do this will all preemies about a week or so after birth because of their blood vessels being so small. They said in a few days they will start trying the bottle. Rachael really likes her paci but Lucas will take it once in a while but mostly is not interested in it.

I forgot to add that Lucas had his first haircut last Saturday already. They needed to move his iv spot and his head was the only place left to put it. And with all his hair they needed to shave a little bit of it. But his hair is growing alot and he will probably need another one here shortly.

Meet Lucas Alan

Meet Rachael Louise....

November 20, 2007 - Twins Birthday

We went for our ultrasound at 9am last Tuesday morning and by 905 we knew we were going to have the babies that day. We had to wait for the doctor to come in and look but Monica the nurse said she was sure it was going to be their birthday. Sure enough we were sent right to the hospital. Rachael's blood was flow was reversing and she was very low on fluid. We went right across the parking lot to the hospital and i was prepped for a csection. We got there about 10 am i guess it was and they had said the csection would be at 2 because i had eaten breakfast but they had to move it up till 12 because she was getting sicker. I did great with the spinal and did not get sick. Lucas was born at 1239PM and Rachael was born at 1240PM. Lucas had a cpap machine for alittle while after birth but was taken off of it that night and has not needed it since. Rachael did not have one.

Lucas weighed 4 pounds 4 ounces, 17 inches long
Rachael weighed 2 pounds 14 ounces, 14 3/4 inches long.

Both are in the NICU but doing good. They were moved to the step down part of the NICU on Tuesday because they are considered not critical anymore. They are just about back to their birth weight now. They took out their iv's Sunday morning and now they just have their feeding tubes in, and of course their heart monitors. They both have had a few brady's but they said that is normal because of them being preemies.

Lucas is now eating 35 cc's every 3 hours and Rachael is at 25cc. They started Lucas out at 5 cc's and Rachael at 2 cc's and they have gone up everyday.

Non Stress Test November 18, 2007

Todays test was alot longer then yesterdays. We were at the hospital for about 3 hours today. The babies took awhile to get a reaction from them once the nurse was able to find their heartbeats, not very cooperative today. But she finally got them thank goodness. My BP was good and no protein in my urine today. The nurse called the midwife from the OB office to come in and look at my reports from today. Said that they looked good and then she talked to us for awhile. She said that the babies will be born sometime this week but not sure when yet. I have to go for non-stress test every day now until they are born. We watched a short video on the NICU because they will be there for awhile, how long no one knows. She said that they usually say until their original due date but can be earlier. I am trying to stay strong for the babies but it is hard because it is so early for them to come but Rachael's placenta is not working like its suppose to so they will be better off outside of me. Until tomorrow.....

Non Stress Test November 17,2007

Todays test was good thank goodness. Both babies had strong heart beats and both reacted like they wanted them to. I had the last of my steroid shots today so I am all set in that department, just hoping that they have a couple days to really take effect on the babies lungs. My BP was good and there was a trace of protein in my urine but nothing major, hoping it stays this way. We have to go back tomorrow for another NST, hoping to get he same results as today. But i did pack my bag today just in case. Until tomorrow.

High Risk Appointment 11/16/2007

Todays appointment was going good until they went to look at Rachael's blood flow from her cord to the placenta. There is some blood flow but not like what they want it to be. So after my appointment I had to goto the hospital to get the steroid shot and i have to go back tomorrow as well for the 2nd part of the shot. By the end of the weekend the shots will be effective to help their lungs develop faster in case they have to born right away. I see the high risk doctor again on Tuesday to see how things are going. He would like to get me another 2 weeks but if he sees any changes in the blood flow, he will tell my OB to take the babies. I also have to have Non Stress Tests both Saturday and Sunday to keep a close eye on them.

Lucas now weighs 3.8 pounds and Rachael weighs 2.75. I saw both of the babies breathing on their own so that is great, i was sooo happy to see that.

My blood pressure was good again today so they were happy with that. More updates tomorrow.

OB appointment

Today's appointment was uneventful thank goodness. BP was good, no protein in urine today, heartbeats were good and said my belly was measuring good. That was about the extent of my appointment and I go back to the OB next Wednesday. I wish all appointments were this easy!

30 Week Belly Pics

Here are my 30 week belly pics, stretch marks and all...

Non Stress Test November 12, 2007

Went for our NST yesterday and they got a reaction out of both babies. Took a little longer for Lucas to wake up but then he did. They had a hard time finding both of their heartbeats but they finally found both of them. They would think they had both but only to find out in a few minutes that they had the monitors only on one. My BP was good too considering that they took it while i was laying on my back. I have another NST scheduled for next Monday but if the high risk doctor says everything looks good on Friday and i do not need it on Monday then i will schedule it for later in the week, probably on Friday.

Today is 30 weeks! It really is going by fast now. Still having cramping and feeling uncomfortable but we are getting there!

More updates tomorrow from the OB.

OB Appointment 11/7/07

Appointment went well. BP is behaving itself thank goodness. There is a trace of protein in my urine so they will keep an eye on that. Tested me again to see if i was anemic and that came back good. I have not been feeling the babies as much as I have before so I will start weekly non-stress tests starting next week to monitor the babies. Lucas's h/b was in the 140's and Rachael's in the 150's, said both were great. They are a little concerned that there is a pound difference between the two but said that they will keep a close eye on their weights.

Next week will be a busy week for appointments. Monday is the non-stress test, Wednesday is another OB visit and Friday the high risk doctor again. But i am glad that they are really watching the babies. So check back next week for lots of updates!!!

High Risk Doctor Appt 10/31/07

The appointment went good. My cervix is still long and closed thank goodness although he said it looks like it may have thinned out a little bit but nothing to be concerned about. Rachael now weighs 2 1/2 pounds and Lucas weighs 3 1/2 pounds. They are really starting to put on the weight now and the doctor said that is great in case they decide to come early. Lucas is still in the breech position and Rachael's fluid looks good.

I went and did my 3 hour test today (11/1) so now I am just waiting on the results of that. I had to drink different stuff today and it sure was not good but I got it down. After a few hours of doing the test, I started to get a headache because I had nothing to eat since last night at 10PM. But as soon as it was over I started eating my pretzels that I brought and Dave and I went to lunch, that made it feel better. I am thinking maybe tomorrow we might get the results. Until then.

Well I failed my 1 hour glucose test so now i have to do the 3 hour test on Thursday. I cant have anything to eat or drink after 10PM on Wednesday, yikes i am going to be starving. My appointment is at 7am so i can go and get it over with and eat breakfast as soon as i am done.

OB Appointment 10/24/07

My appointment was good yesterday. BP was good. The doctor had them do a quick u/s to check on the babies movements because i didnt feel them very much yesterday and was cramping quite a bit again but all is good. Lucas's h/b was 141 and Rachael 146. Lucas was sucking his hand, looked like his thumb to me but it was hard to tell. Cervix is still long and closed. Although at my hospital visit, it was 40 and yesterday was 38 but they said it was still closed up thank goodness. We will wait and see what the high risk doctor measures next week. One is breech and one is head down now. I cant wait to see how much weight they have gained at our next appointment.

I still am having quite a bit of cramping and at times really achy but i am hanging in there. Next OB appointment November 7th and next high risk doctor October 31st.

OB Appointment

My appointment was good today even though I had to see the doctor that i do not care for. BP was good, no protein in urine, my blood test to check to see if my anemic must of been okay because they didnt say anything about it, heard both heartbeats. He did not do a cervix check today but did say that because it is a 4 right now i should not deliver for at least a month, he is hoping to make it till at least 32 weeks which would the end of November but hopes to go longer then that. Told me to rest this weekend and keep taking my pills, said i was doing a great job. Oh and my belly measures 31 weeks now. First time he has told me this, surprised me. I will only see doctors from now. For awhile i was seeing midwives. I have to go again next Wednesday for another check and then on halloween I will see the high risk doctor again. Cant wait to see how much the little ones have grown and i will get to see them again.

Labor and Delivery Visit- 10/16/07

I got into bed around 9pm or so to watch tv for awhile before going to sleep and I started getting this constant pain in my groin area. When Dave got home I told him and we decided to call the doctor to let them know. My own doctor was on call that night, made me feel alot better. She said she did not think it was contractions because it was a constant pain but wanted me to come into Labor and Delivery to get monitored. So we went to the hospital. We got there around 1045pm. I had to give a urine sample right when i got there so they could get that to the lab to be testing for a UTI, that test came back negative. Next, they hooked me up to heart monitors to get the babies heartbeats. Both were good, well when they werent setting off the alarms because they were moving so much and the machine lost their h/b's. They really didnt like the straps on my belly and they sure did let me know. When looking at their heartbeats on the paper that prints out, they noticed i was having contractions. So they called my doctor and she came right to the hospital to do some tests on me. She checked my cervix and said it was still closed but soft and did a test to see if i would be delivering within the next 2 weeks and that came back negative(Phew). So i have at least two weeks left, we are hoping for alot longer though. My doctor then went to call the high risk doctor i have been seeing to have him come in to do an ultrasound and do a more thorough cervix check with the ultrasound. Both babies were very active and growing good. Lucas now weighs 2 1/2 pounds, Rachael weighs 2 pounds. Really have grown alot in two weeks. My doctor wanted to keep me overnight just to keep an eye on me so I stayed the night at the luxurious hospital. Dave left around 245am to go home and get some sleep and he came back shortly after 8. By the time he got there, the doctor had already been in to re-check me and said that nothing changed since she last checked me so i was free to go home. They did give me breakfast before i left, wasnt the greatest food i have ever had but at least it was something to get in my belly to give to the twins.

I have to goto the OB this afternoon for another check. Will give that update later.

OB appointment today

Appointment was good today. I finally got to see my own doctor today. My BP was 122/66 today, it was behaving it self today for a change. I have been having alot of braxton hick contractions so she did a cervix check and it is still closed thank goodness but said it was soft. So she sent me for an ultrasound to measure it and it is still very long. I did get to see Lucas's butt today while she was doing the ultrasound. She is going to check a urine sample for a urinary track infection as well as this can cause cramping as well.I have to go back in a week for another check. She said if she starts to see my cervix thinning out, she will give me shots of steroids to get the babies lungs developed faster. I was given my slip for the lab for my sugar test, have to do that around the 29th of October. I figured i would be getting the slip sooner or later for it.

High Risk Doctor Appt today

Had another high risk appointment today. It was great to see the babies again today. Lucas now weighs 1.81 and Rachael weighs 1.41. He is in the breech position now and she is head down so they are switching places on us. I kept telling Dave that i think one is very low because i keep getting kicked really low and sure enough her head is in my groin and also his butt is right there too. So his butt is in her face. She is still low on fluid but they are going to continue to keep an eye on it. If I was to have them now, they are considered viable so that is a big relief. We are hoping to keep them in there a couple more months at least. If they start to see my cervix starting to dilate they will give me steroid shots to get their lungs developed better before they are born. I am feeling pretty good these days, just tired and at night i am pretty achy but that is to be expected. My next OB appointment is next Thursday and we see the high risk doctor again on Halloween.

OB Appointment 9-20-2007

Had and OB appointment yesterday. They did an ultrasound first to check my cervix to make sure I have not started to dilate yet and I have not. Great news. My BP, weight, belly measurement, were all okay too and no protein in urine. Our Baby Boy's heartbeat was in the 140's and our baby girl's heartbeat was 150 said that they were both great numbers. Told me to keep up the good work and to rest. I was 22 weeks and 2 days along yesterday. I have to go back in three weeks to the OB. We see the high risk doctor again on the 4th, I cant wait so we can see the babies again. I thought I might get a quick peek yesterday at them but they were only checking my cervix. I did see one of their heads though on the screen!

The names we have decided on are........... Lucas Alan and Rachael Louise.

OB Appointment

Had another OB appointment yesterday. My blood pressure is up again so they are having me take more medicine to see if that helps, hopefully it does. Both of the babies heartbeats were in the 140's said that was great. I have to go back on Sept 20th for another OB appointment and they are going to do an ultrasound before the appointment to check the length of my cervix. Today I am 20 weeks 4 days along. Getting there.

Also today is my first baby shower. I will post pictures later!!!! I have another shower on Oct 21st.

Another High Risk Doctors Appointment

Everything went well on Thursday for the appointment. Baby A weighs .42 and Baby B weighs .36. The nurse said that they both have big heads and she looked right at Dave and said that they must take after their Dad..lol..... Baby B is still low on fluid but the doctor said it looked better then 2 weeks ago when we were there. Baby B is breech. And the big news of the appointment is that Baby A is a boy and Baby B is a girl. We are so excited to be having one of each. We have bought a few outfits for each already. It is so much easier to buy clothes now that we know that they are. We have an ultrasound scheduled for this coming Friday at the OB and then an appointment on Monday.

OB Appointment Update

Had an appointment yesterday to check my blood pressure. It was good 134/74. They checked my iron and urine to check for protein, all came back good. I saw a midwife yesterday and she found both the babies heartbeats with the doppler, both were in the 160's. This was the first time they were able to find both so that made me very happy. The results of the NT Scan were back and both have 1 in 10,500 chance of having down syndrome, nurse said they were excellent numbers, thank goodness. Told me I was doing a good job and keep up the good work! We have another ultrasound with the high risk doctor on Aug 9th, hopefully then the babies will be cooperative and show us what we are having. On August 17th, we have an ultrasound at the OB's office and then the 20th another appointment.

Update from the Specialist Doctor Today

The doctor was called to the hospital before we got there so all the appointments were behind but it was not to bad. Good thing I brought some pretzels with me. Todays appointment went good. It is Baby B that is low on fluid not Baby A. But they are both growing good. Baby B is a little smaller and has a smaller belly so that might be the reason there is less fluid but they are going to keep an eye on the fluid. They were both jumping all around again today. Neither one would cooperate today to look between the legs. Baby A's cord was between the legs today. Even though we have had two different ultrasound techs tell us it was a boy, we still are not buying anything blue yet. The placenta is covering my cervix and he said this is the reason I am bleeding. If it does not move I will have to have a c-section. But I could end up having one anyway if they are not in the right position. Time will tell. My blood pressure was good today, thank goodness. They both weigh a quarter of a pound. When the nurse said that, she said we have 2 quarter pounders and i was very hungry so I automatically thought of McDonalds..lol.. I have an OB appointment next Tuesday and then we go back for another ultrasound with the specialist on Aug 9th.

Update from Fridays Appointment

Our appointment on Friday, July 13th was a so so appointment. My blood pressure was up so they changed my medicine and also said that I would need to go see a high risk doctor for a level 2 ultrasound (a more sensitive ultrasound, they can check for alot more) because Baby A has a little less fluid. Our appointment for that is July 26th. I had to go back on Monday for them to recheck my blood pressure and it has come down some. But when I was in the ER that morning (another story) it was fine so they are just going to go with the ER reading for now. So the next OB appointment is July 31st, not sure if this is just to check my blood pressure again or what.

As for the ER visit Monday morning. Sunday morning we were laying in bed and Sebastian got up on the bed with us and laid down in between us. Well his paw got me in the eye and it bothered me for the rest of the day. Monday morning when I got Dave up to goto work, i had a hard time keeping my eye open, was all red, watery and i couldnt see very well. So we went to get it checked out and i have a scratch on my eye. It really hurts. They gave me some gel to put in there and i had to go for a follow up yesterday with an eye doctor and he said he could see where the scratch is but it is heeling. It felt a lot better yesterday but it is still kinda cloudy to see.

Ultrasound Update

Our ultrasound appointment went well today. Baby A had a heartbeat of 156 and Baby B had a heartbeat of 165. Baby A is definitely a boy. Still not sure of Baby B yet, not being very cooperative. But its still early. They measured the back of the babies skin on their neck and pricked my finger to check for down syndrome. I am thinking that when i need blood work done, they should just prick my finger because it did not want to stop!!!! The ultrasound lady said that the skin measured fine but have to wait for the results from the lab on the blood work and the pictures. Not sure how long this takes. She also did not see the hemorrhage anymore so maybe its the end of the bleeding, we hope. We have an OB appointment tomorrow afternoon so maybe we will find out more about it tomorrow. We see the midwife tomorrow. We have to see all the doctors and midwifes in the office in case I go into labor early and our doctor is not on call that day or night. Until tomorrow!!!!

Another Trip

Well we made another trip to the ER Sunday, July 8, 2007 for more bleeding. I called the doctor and she said she either wanted another ultrasound that night or on Monday so we decided to goto the ER for an ultrasound that night. Baby A measured 12w4 days with a heartbeat of 160 and Baby B measured 12w2 days with a heartbeat of 166. Baby B was resting but Baby A was very active and must of kicked Baby B because it soon became very active as well. The ultrasound lady had a very hard time getting the heartrate because it was so active. But i am on bed rest until the bleeding stops. Tomorrow is the NT Scan (checking for down syndrome) and then on Friday is another OB appointment. We are really hoping this is the end of the bleeding!!!! More updates tomorrow!!

Another Trip to the ER

I got up Saturday morning around 130 to goto the bathroom and discovered that I was bleeding again. I laid back down for about an hour and then it was getting heavier so around 245am we got in the jeep and headed to the hospital. They listened for the heartbeats with the doppler but was having a hard time hearing them. They had another nurse come in and try and she thinks she heard both of them at the same time. She said they must be very close to each other. They did another exam and took some blood. They didnt get very much but luckily it was enough for them to test. They said my pregnancy hormone was at 157,000. My urine sample showed alot of white cells so they put me on an antibiotic for a bladder infection. I called the doctors office when we left to let them know what was going on and they said just rest and keep my feet up, if the bleeding gets any worse to let them know.

Our next ultrasound is July 12th. This will be to test the babies skin on their neck to check for downs syndrome. Our next OB appointment is the 17th. Hopefully we wont have any more runs to the ER.

10 Week Belly Shot

10 Week Ultrasound

We had an appointment yesterday, June 26, 2007, to check on the size of the hemmorage. It is alot smaller but still there a little bit. The doctor isnt sure on how long it will take for it to be completely gone but at least its alot smaller. Both babies are really growing. I was exactly 10 weeks yesterday and they are both measuring 10 weeks 6 days. Both heartbeats were 176 yesterday. They were both really moving around like crazy yesterday. The ultrasound lady said that there are 2 placentas so she said they probably are not identical, so maybe we will get one of each!!! We wont know for awhile though what the sexes are.

A Really Big Scare

Well last Thurs night I was getting dinner ready and I had to use the bathroom and noticed that I was bleeding. It wasnt bad at first but then a few minutes later I checked again and I was bleeding very heavy. Dave called the doctors and left a message and shortly after that they called back. They said for me to lay down and if i went through a pad every 20 minutes for an hour then we were to make the trip to the hospital. I laid down for a bit and then we decided to goto the ER. They did an ultrasound and both babies hearts were just a beating. I couldnt believe they were still there after all the blood that i lost. They did blood work and an exam and they couldnt find out where the bleeding was coming from. So we left the hospital at midnight and I was to call the doctors office first thing in the morning for an appointment with my own doctor. So I called and we went. The first doctor I saw (mine was on call in the morning) did an exam and said that the blood is coming from my uterus and was concerned. So we had an ultrasound and both babies hearts were still beating thank goodness. They found the cause for the bleed. I have a pretty good size hemmorage. It is right below the babies but is not touching their sacs at all. So i was put on bed rest until Wed 6/13 when I would go back to the doctors.

We went to the doctors on Wed and the hemmorage is still there. It is still the same size as it was on Friday. The ultrasound lady goes, do you know there is a third Baby? Dave said, What?? But it was the hemmorage that she was seeing. Both babies measured 8 weeks 5 days. They moved my due date to January 18th instead of the 22nd. I am off bed rest but I cant do anything. But at least I can get up and walk around a bit now. I am still bleeding but its old blood. Just praying that it stays that way. I go back on June 26th for another ultrasound to see how things are looking.

Picture of Ultrasound

I took a picture of the ultrasound with the digital camera, its not the best picture of it but at least you get to see the twins. They look like beans but in a few more weeks they will start looking like babies.

Ultrasound Update

We had our first ultrasound yesterday and we are having twins. Both are measuring 7 weeks 3 days and one has a heartbeat of 155 and the other 153. We have an OB consult next Wed.

First Ultrasound

Is on Monday, June 4, 2007 to tell us how many miracles we will be adding to our family!

Here are the test that told us we were expecting

Pregnancy Test

On May 9, 2007 I decided to take a home pregnancy test and it was positive. Just to make sure, I took another one a few hours later and that too was positive. So I decided to call the doctors to let them know because of my previous history with miscarriages and they wanted me to go for bloodwork on May 10th instead of May 11th. The bloodwork was positive as well. We were soo happy. We had more bloodwork on May 12th and the numbers more then doubled just like they are suspose to. I am doing shots of heparin twice a day. I will have to do these for at least 12 weeks, my poor belly already is all bruised but it will be worth it in the end.
